At Newark Airport, an Indian student’s American dream turned into a nightmare, captured in haunting images that shook social media.
Handcuffed, pinned to the ground, and crying — this young man was treated not as a visitor but as a criminal.
I witnessed a young Indian student being deported from Newark Airport last night— handcuffed, crying, treated like a criminal. He came chasing dreams, not causing harm. As an NRI, I felt helpless and heartbroken. This is a human tragedy. @IndianEmbassyUS #immigrationraids pic.twitter.com/0cINhd0xU1

Kunal Jain, an entrepreneur, shared the disturbing footage on his X account, calling it a “human tragedy.” The student, chasing hopes of a better future, instead faced humiliation and fear.
Kunal Jain revealed that the student was supposed to board the same flight as him, but vanished from the passenger list, leaving him disoriented and scared under the harsh glare of immigration officers.
Speaking in Haryanvi, the student insisted he was sane, yet the authorities appeared determined to brand him otherwise. This heart-wrenching ordeal is not isolated.
According to reports, every day multiple students face similar treatment — denied entry, questioned aggressively, and deported, despite having valid visas and intentions.
The silence from official channels is deafening. The Indian Embassy and authorities have been called upon to intervene, but answers remain elusive.
Every deportation number hides a young life broken apart, and a family left worried and helpless far away.
These students come with dreams, hopes, and plans to build a better future. Instead, they get caught in a confusing and harsh system that treats them like criminals.
How can a country that talks about freedom and opportunity treat people this way? How do we protect the respect and dignity of those who leave everything behind to study and work hard?
We need to see immigration as a human issue — behind every case is a real young person, not just a number or a suspect.
This is a call for kindness, honesty, and fairness before more dreams are crushed in cold airport halls.
