A recent incident of racial abuse and harassment of a woman by a cab driver who assumed she was Indian has sparked outrage and condemnation.
The woman, who reported the incident to the police and the cab company, said she felt violated as a woman and a minority.
This is not an isolated case of discrimination and violence against Indian women in foreign countries. Indian women also face harassment and abuse in countries like Afghanistan, Syria, Saudi Arabia, and the United States.
Activists and experts say that Indian women are often stereotyped and objectified by foreign cultures, and face multiple forms of oppression based on their gender, ethnicity, religion, and class. They call for more awareness and action to protect the rights and dignity of Indian women abroad.
