Amazon Prime Video brings this new horror series called Adhura. Bollywood already has a scarcity of good horror movies. And this movie serves as an above-average horror experience if not great. This 8-episode web series is produced by Emmay Entertainment and directed by Gauravv K Chawla and Ananya Banerjee, marking one of Amazon Prime’s initial ventures into Hindi horror.
Set in a boarding school in the mountains with a few haunting secrets, the show unfolds in 2022 and 2007 as the hidden truth emerges, blurring the lines between past and present. The revelation impacts everyone connected to the school, unveiling a dark and chilling tale.
Vedant is a mostly quiet kid in the current batch and there is Adhiraj, a guilt-ridden alumnus, both are connected through a haunting mystery. death of Dean Vyas and a planned reunion begins a series of strange events related to their intertwined pasts, uncovering a dark tale of injustice and redemption.
What lacks in this series is a good screenplay that could have made this average-looking series a great watch. Due to lazy writing, you can already predict the upcoming twists, making you lose interest in the show. Other than that the performances of Ishwak Singh and Rasika Duggal are great, and the cinematography is also praiseworthy capturing beautiful locations.
You can like this show if you are not a hardcore horror fan. But if you are expecting something great, you will be disappointed. The show is available on Prime Video.
