We have seen very few science fiction movies in India so far. While a few movies like “24” and “Baar Baar Dekho” had some surprising elements, there is still a long way to go. Then comes this Tamil movie called “Adiyae,” which is like a breath of fresh air, delivering a beautiful, if not perfect, love story with a pinch of futuristic elements.
“Adiyae” tells us the story of a guy who has a crush on a girl named Senthazhini but fails to express his emotions to her. Years later, when the girl has become a famous singer, Jeeva is still consumed by thoughts of her and is a depressed, suicidal loser. Unexpectedly, life gives him a second chance in the form of an alternate reality where he is a prominent music director and is married to the same girl. Contrary to his belief, he fails here as well in bringing his life together, and things get worse.
The movie is an interesting take on the elements of fate and surprisingly delivers well, with a few minor setbacks. The performances of the lead pair, GV Prakash Kumar and Gouri Kishan, are praiseworthy. “Adiyae,” directed by Vignesh Karthick, with a runtime of 139 minutes, has been released on SonyLIV.
