Mukesh Ambani owned Viacom 18 has bagged the broadcast and streaming rights for all the home matches of the Indian Cricket Team.
Earlier, Star Sports Network and it’s streaming partner Hotstar had the TV and streaming rights to home matches, respectively.
In a bid amounting ₹5963 crore Viacom would earn ₹35.23 crore per match for TV and ₹32.52 crore per match for streaming.
This ends the dominance that Disney Star had over broadcasting of cricket matches in the country. Now, it only has broadcasting rights for IPL, ICC tournaments and the ongoing Asia Cup.
The cycle that will start in September 2023 for the next five years will include a total of 88 ICT matches, 25 Tests, 27 ODIs and 36 T20Is.
The TV matches will be broadcasted on Sports18, while digitally Jio Cinema would stream.
