Bade Miyan Chote Miyan: Same Old Story With Action

The two Bollywood stars who once used to entertain us with their self-defined genres are currently going through a creative slump. There is Akshay Kumar, who experienced a series of flops but saw a ray of hope only with “OMG 2.” Another is Tiger Shroff, who has delivered disasters like “Heropanti” and “Ganpath.” Now that they are joining hands with director Ali Abbas Zafar, there were hopes for some carefree adventure. However, as soon as the teaser dropped, it felt quite underwhelming.

The teaser seemed like a slightly improved version of “Ganpath” in terms of VFX. What these high-concept movies lack is a mature writing, which should excite us with the teaser. A Sanskrit shloka followed by its lame translation and a few jingoistic dialogues is not going to work in present times.

An experiment like what was done in “Captain America: The First Avenger” and a few witty dialogues can’t make the new generation root for the movie. If you’re exploring the sci-fi genre, we need something that has never been seen before. At least, makers should strive to be innovative.

Copying ideas from the West makes us look foolish when compared to world cinema. On one hand, we see a small-budget superhero movie like “Hanuman,” which has exceeded everyone’s imagination. On the other side, we have “Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan,” which couldn’t even secure a unique title. While it’s still just a teaser, we need to wait until the trailer is released. It’s up to us to choose what we want.
