When Bird Box aired on the streaming giants, fans showed it an ample amount of love. It was a new concept in the sea of fiction dramas and it will hook you up in no time.
The original of this franchise streamed in 2018 and was based on a very simple concept. There is a rise of a supernatural power and if you set your eye on the creature, you devastatingly take your life.
This spinoff revolves around Sebastián and her daughter Anna and they will be accompanied by several other survivors. British psychiatrist Claire will lead the group and they will go on a journey of avoiding the being and not having a peek at it.
David and Àlex Pastor worked on the creation of the show and they did a very average job.
The cast has names such as Mario Casas, Alejandra Howard, Georgina Campbell, Naila Schuberth, and Lola Dueñas. The cast had all the potential but the makers had other plans.
What made the 2018 version the biggest hit of Netflix at that point was missing from the Barcelona edition of the movie. The follow-up movie doesn’t focus either on the character development or the thrill.
Though the movie tried to go deeper into human emotions and tried to deal with the concepts of trauma, losing someone, or fear, they couldn’t be more average.
Even for a film like this, the BGM must be enchanting but it turns out quite the opposite. The makers gifted us with no more than a couple of thrilling scenes and that’s well under expectations.
Overall, this can’t be more underwhelming. As the makers are trying to make multiple spin-offs, none should become as basic as the Barcelona edition. If you have watched that original, you should definitely skip it as it will make you lose your faith in the franchise. If you are determined to go for it, then, just remember, it might disappoint you.
