CBI Case On OTT Show: What HC Told Netflix?

Netflix is unrivaled in the docuseries bracket in the Indian OTT space as the OTT giant has delivered multiple winning docuseries’ based on real life incidents. The OTT giant is coming with another such show, The Indrani Mukerjea Story: The Buried Truth which has met a spedbump now.

The show is facing a legal hassle after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a case against its streaming on Netflix as the case is still in court. The case came to a hearing in the Bombay High Court today, two days before the proposed Netflix streaming date of 23 February.

The HC ordered Netflix not to stream the show on their platform till the 29th of this month. The OTT giant obliged to the same and assured the court that the show would not stream till the mentioned date.

The Court ordered Netflix to arrange a screening of the show to the Court and also to the CBI, to which Netflix agreed. The screening will be held soon and if the court and CBI find nothing wrong, then the show could stream anytime post 29 February. Else the delay could get longer.

Indrani Mukerjea is accused of murdering her daughter Sheena Bora and spent 6 and half years in jail before being let out on bail in 2022. Netflix made a show on these series of incidents and thanks to this case, the show has gained attention before the release.
