It is known that the government of India had been trying to regulate the content that is streamed on OTT platforms. The recent move to mandate OTT platforms to stream only censored content is another step towards this goal.
Now, in a more intense move, the CBI has approached the court against Netflix’s upcoming OTT show, The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth.
This show is based on the highly controversial murder of Sheena Bora that happened in 2012. The show uncovers the series of incidents where Sheena’s own mother Indrani allegedly tried to cover up the tracks after killing her daughter with help from her driver and ex-husband.
Even after a decade, the case hasn’t been settled in court and the CBI investigation is still going on. In this context, the CBI has approached the court against the streaming of this show on Netflix.
The show is supposed to stream on Netflix from the 23rd of this month and the CBI has approached the court, asking to stop the premieres now. The case will come to a hearing on the 20th of this month. It has to be seen what will be the court’s verdict on the case.
