Court Will Not Entertain Stay On Indrani Mukerjea Documentary

The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth.

The Sheena Bora murder case was one of the most talked-about cases in Mumbai around 2015. The brutal murder of Sheena Bora revealed the suspect to be the prominent figure Indrani Mukherjee. The case has not reached its conclusion yet and is still ongoing.

Surprisingly, Netflix was about to release a documentary series on the case. Even the trailer was released eight days ago, but then the CBI, which was handling the case, requested the CBI court in Mumbai to halt the release of the series.

The CBI argued that, since the case is still ongoing, this docu-series could cause prejudice and biased opinions. Therefore, until the final judgment is reached, they requested a halt in the release. Regarding the appeal, CBI Judge SP Naik stated that the court doesn’t have the authority to do this, as the case falls under the grievance redressal platform under the IT rules.

The trial court doesn’t hold the accountability to issue orders on such cases and suggested that the CBI follow IT rules. The plea to stay the release of “The Indrani Mukherjea Story: Buried Truth” was dismissed. The series will premiere on 23rd February 2024. Feel free to share your thoughts on this.
