Marvel Studios has opted to disappoint with Daredevil: Born Again, after building up expectations for more than two years. The typical episode count, which has already been revealed, is 18. However, instead of the previously promised 18 episodes, they will continue with 13. How should we deal with the loss of those five episodes?
The program, which recently began production after a brief break, demonstrates Marvel’s ongoing commitment to concentrating its television productions on street-level heroes. Born Again is the sequel to Marvel’s crime series Echo, which starred Maya Lopez, an Indigenous and deaf antihero.
Daredevil: Born Again had a big creative shift in New York during the middle of filming. The return of major cast members is thrilling. Charlie Cox returns as Daredevil/Matt Murdock, while Vincent D’Onofrio returns as the powerful Kingpin/Wilson Fisk. Jon Bernthal reprises his role as The Punisher.
Marvel may be striving for a shorter narrative arc while still emphasizing the character’s street-level heroics, which appeal to fans. The decision to show only 13 episodes may suggest a sense of urgency and inadequacy. There were whispers that Disney might have to rework the entire show since they were dissatisfied with the development. However, the announcement of shortened episodes comes later, so it is unlikely that Disney is hurrying to begin production.
