Young Woman and the Sea, a Disney film, will be released in select theatres on May 31. This comes after Daisy Ridley’s movie scored in the upper 90s. We have also heard that the film will include a marketing effort designed for restricted distribution.
Originally, we learned from a non-Disney source that the movie adaptation of Glenn Stout’s novel would receive a tentpole push. Anyway, it’s another success for streaming films to the big screen, and studios seeing their potential.
Disney is exploring a theatrical release for Daisy Ridley, a feature picture featuring Joachim Rønning in Glenn Stout’s Young Woman and the Sea. The film scored in the upper 90s and is set to premiere on May 31 with a worldwide promotion and a Summer Games 2024 campaign related to the Disney+ launch. The dates are not set in stone and may change when talent is notified of their contracts as the picture moves from stream to theatrical release.
George Clooney’s The Boys in the Boat, produced by Amazon MGM Studios, made over $45 million. In 2024, more films will be released, notably Universal’s Monkey Man in early April and Amazon MGM Studios’ Blink Twice in late August.
