In terms of ratings, it has a 5.2 on IMDb, but when it comes to the box office, it is indeed a sensation. And this time, you can have the Meg 2 experience at your home as the film now hits the streaming platforms.
The movie, again, works on the post-math of the first movie, which, again, was based on a 1997 novel by Steve Alten. The first installment was indeed a bash of entertainment, and the second one promised to magnify the adrenaline but failed miserably.
Five years after the first film, Jonas Taylor and his team are exploring the Mariana Trench. A female Megalodon named Haiqi, trained by Jiuming, goes rogue. Illegal mining is discovered, leading to a rupture in the trench. Taylor’s crew is sabotaged, forcing them into the dangerous trench with exosuits.
They escape, revealing traitors Jess and Driscoll. Creatures including Megs, an octopus, and Snappers escape to the surface. Taylor’s team warns a resort of the impending attack, leading to a dramatic battle where they ultimately survive and celebrate, but Haiqi’s pregnancy remains a concern.
In terms of box office records, it grossed around $390.2 million, which is somewhat underwhelming when compared to the original Meg, which earned $530 million worldwide.
Now, you can stream this installment on Prime Video and Google Play Movies & TV, but you have to rent it. It will cost you around ₹499 on the former platform and ₹500 on the latter one.
