Netflix Is A Joke, the streaming giant’s comedy brand, is bringing back its star-studded comedy festival in May 2024, after a hiatus due to the pandemic. The festival, which debuted in 2020, features some of the biggest names in stand-up, sketch, improv, and musical comedy, performing across various venues in Los Angeles.
Netflix Is A Joke was originally a self-deprecating marketing slogan, used to promote Netflix’s original comedy specials. The phrase soon became a badge of honor for comedians and fans alike, who appreciate Netflix’s diverse and quality comedy content. Netflix Is A Joke also has a YouTube channel, where it uploads clips, interviews, and podcasts from its comedy catalog.
The festival will showcase over 100 comedians, including Dave Chappelle, Ali Wong, Kevin Hart, Amy Schumer, Ricky Gervais, and many more. It will also feature themed shows, such as The Improv, Verified Stand-Up, and The Best of Netflix Is A Joke⁵. The festival will culminate in a closing night gala at the Hollywood Bowl, where all proceeds will go to a charity of the comedians’ choice.
Netflix Is A Joke is not only a celebration of comedy, but also a testament to Netflix’s dominance in the genre. As the world recovers from a challenging time, Netflix hopes to bring laughter and joy to its audiences with this festival.
