These days, OTT releases garner slightly different reviews compared to theatrical releases. Several hit films receive average talk when they are out on OTT, and rarely do films that received average reviews from theatrical releases get decent to good reviews on OTT.
Maamannan, a Tamil political drama centered around caste oppression, is receiving decent to good reviews on OTT, while it received average talk theatrically.
People watched it on OTT, hyping the film, especially praising the villain character portrayed by Fahadh Faasil.
He plays a brutal political leader in the film and delivers a very good performance in the negative role. However, OTT audiences are creating a flood of funny memes, videos, and making them viral with humorous comments, which contrasts with his role in Maamannan.
For a home watch, we definitely recommend Maamannan. The film has several high-octane blocks and well-written drama, although the climax is far from satisfactory.
