HBO’s True Detective Is Back With Great Numbers!

HBO True Detective

True Detective’s new season, starring Jodie Foster and Kali Reis, is one of our must-see Max series for 2024, and according to the reviews, we’re right to be enthusiastic. It presently has a very good 92% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics, with only a few disagreeing voices.

Season four of the program (subtitled ‘Night Country’) takes place in Alaska and follows Foster and Reis as they examine the sudden disappearance of a group of men from an investigation outpost. Maybe they haven’t been The Thinged, otherwise, things will go extremely wrong for everyone.

True Detective, a soulful television series, has received accolades from The Atlantic, TIME, RogerEbert.com, and Vulture magazine. The program, which has struggled to recover its chemistry over the last decade, is redefining itself this season. The Atlantic describes it as “enough to seriously justify the revival of the True Detective moniker.”

While some reviews describe the program as “like a slog through deep snow,” others, like CNN and Observer.com, describe it as “six hours of characters who do not enjoy each other’s company.” The Chicago Sun-Times, on the other hand, compliments the program for its sophisticated set pieces and jump scares, claiming that the series occasionally loses its course but eventually finds its way back.
