Going to be seen in the role of an investigative journalist by the name of Vaishali Singh, the actress will be shedding light on a harrowing case of sexual assault at a girls’ shelter home, a story inspired by tremendous yet true events.

Released this Wednesday, the trailer took its viewers to the dark underbelly of a shelter home run by Bansi Sahu, being played by CID fame Aditya Srivastava. Bhumi’s character is seen determined to unveil the truth and as the trailer unfolds is seen taking on the challenging task of exposing the disgusting perpetrators.

What sets the movie apart is its narrative being set against a backdrop of corruption, one of the nation’s biggest evils, with politicians entangled in this web of the heinous crime.

The movie is boasting a stellar cast, one which is a dream for any director and includes experienced maestros like Sanjay Mishra, Sai Tamhankar, and Surya Sharma. To add four stars to the event, Bollywood legend Shah Rukh Khan shared the trailer on Instagram, referring to it as a story of resilience that needs to be told.

In a recent interview before the film’s release Bhumi revealed how in my journey as an actor, she has always been drawn to clutter-breaking films that go beyond the conventional narrative. Adding to this, she said that ‘Bhakshak’ is definitely also one such film, and counted it as one of the most significant film of her acting career.

Directed and written by Pulkit, in collaboration with Jyotsana Nath, “Bhakshak” is expected to be a thought-provoking and impactful addition to Netflix’s already extensive collection. The trailer has done an excellent job of building an anticipation around the compelling narrative and makes the movie a must watch.
