The second half of “Invincible’s” second season will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on March 14, the 21st anniversary of the comic book that inspired it. Prime Video aims to release the second half of its eight-episode second season in March, with four new weekly episodes.
Based on the revolutionary comic book series by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley, the plot revolves around 18-year-old Mark Grayson, who’s just like every other guy his age—except that his dad is (or was) the most powerful superhuman on the planet,” according to the show’s website. “Still reeling from Nolan’s betrayal in Season 1, Mark fights to rebuild his personal life as he faces a host of new dangers, all while battling his greatest fear – that he could end up being his father without even knowing it.”
The first half of Season Two won the Rotten Tomatoes Golden Tomato Award for best-animated series and remains “Certified Fresh” with a perfect score. The first season received comparable accolades, with a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
It was nominated for an Annie Award, an Online Film and Television Association Award, and a Hollywood Critics Association Award, with Yeun and Simmons each receiving an OFTA Television Award for best voice-over performance, among other things.
Kirkman, Walker, David Alpert, Catherine Winder, Simon Racioppa, Margaret M. Dean, Rogen, and Evan Goldberg executive produce the program, with Helen Leigh and Maude Lewis serving as producers.
