Jio Hotstar Threatens Prime Video and Netflix

By doing so, JioHotstar became a legitimate rival to Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, two giant streaming players in the industry.

Its budget-oriented strategy is what makes it happen: subscribers are offered the starter plan at just ₹149 monthly for an ad-supported mobile platform, with premium ad-free watching costing ₹1,499 annually. That outshines competition and allows millions of viewers access to premium material.

JioStar Entertainment CEO Kevin Vaz has assured that the current Disney+ Hotstar subscribers will not see any change in price, and the JioCinema viewers will be upgraded to the premium one for free.

JioHotstar also offered a humongous library of free content to its huge 50 crore audience, but Hollywood movies are kept behind the paywall.
