Saying that JioCinema is skyrocketing will be an understatement as the Streaming platform is on its way to defining Indian entertainment. Their content looks phenomenal and with more international deals with platforms such as Peacock, HBO, Paramount Plus, Showtime, and Binge, will grow the user base undoubtedly. But the user experience emerges as a big question mark.
Now, the issues are not one dimensional as multiple users and facing multiple issues, and that threatens the credibility of the entire platform. One main issue users are facing is in the JioCinema app on the Apple TV platform. Certain changes in Frame Rates make the playback experience a mess. Reportedly the Custom video player of the app is creating these irregularities and this basic issue needs to be fixed.
Also, one issue is their advertisement strategy. They are currently streaming MotoGP and with a free stream, you can expect ads. But in a 40-minute race, if the advertising takes 5-8 minutes, it becomes frustrating. That is the exact issue faced by the racing fans right now and they are raging over social media.
The advertisement issue is not also limited while streaming live content, whole streaming movies and series, some users are extremely frustrated with it. Also about streaming several users are unable to do that as well, they are hit by a ‘No asset information found’ note. Though JioCinema is trying to fix this issue for a long time, they aren’t able to show any results.
Some shows are missing subtitles as well. This issue is mainly faced by the users who are trying to stream HBO content and a number of the viewers are also complaining about the HBO library in general.
Is it just too much to handle for JioCinema? Will they be able to handle the crowd? Only time will tell but as a user, a good experience counts more than a wide library and thousands of ads. A bad user experience for free or a good one with a subscription, these lies the question.
So many advertisements in-between a race. @MotoGP as a fan. This is so frustrating. Please look into this issue. For 40 mins race, 5 to 8 mins advertisement.
