JioCinema, over the months, has collected a reputation for one baseless release followed by another unwatchable film, but right now, they might be up to something. They made an announcement regarding the JioCinema Film Festival, and for the first time in a while, it sounds interesting.
In this festival, they will be premiering 20 movies in 20 days for the fans. This is a significant departure from JioCinema’s previous policy as they are now focusing on stories over big names and big releases during the festival.
In the trailer that was dropped, some big names like Supriya Pathak, Amit Sadh, Adah Sharma, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Ayush Mehra, Jatin Sharma, and Sahil Mehta were observed, but all of them are featured in films that are either less known or appreciated.
JioCinema Film Fest celebrates India’s storytelling heritage with a diverse lineup of films. ‘The Comedian’ explores the life of an aging actor in the Indian film industry devoid of laughter. ‘Birha (The Journey Back Home)’ tells a heart-wrenching tale of a family torn apart by a young child’s ambitions.
‘Ghuspaith: Between Borders’ draws from the life of photojournalist Danish Siddiqui, while ‘Rat in the Kitchen’ is a neo-noir thriller about solitude. ‘Bebaak’ delves into the identity crisis of a Muslim woman in India, and ‘The Daughter’ is a story set in a curfewed Indian town, following a young woman’s quest that tests her limits. These films offer a captivating glimpse into the human experience at JioCinema Film Fest.
There will also be some other films featured, such as Kofuku, Before We Die, Gangster Ganga, Murakh (The Idiot), Ring Mili Kya, Dammy, Phone Call, Maachis Ki Dibiya, Munna Ka Bachpan, and Coming Out with the help of a Time Machine.
The whole lineup will give exposure to the fans to a whole new spectrum of films, and for the hardcore cinephiles out there, it will provide them with a platform to stream their long-desired films and check some names off their wishlist.
