Freelancers vs. OTT Giant: Big Brand, No Ethics?

JioHotstar Ruins England Series

In a recent X post, a frustrated creative team named High On Films publicly called out JioHotstar for not paying ₹15,000, for their Instagram feed exclusivity designed for promoting the Peacock catalog.

The post, addressed directly to the official handle of JioHotstar, saying even after completing the project, their payment is delayed for weeks.

According to the team, they have mailed the company multiple times and repeated follow ups were replied with vague responses like “I’ll get back to you”.

This kind of absurdity is not new in the freelancing industry. The workers are met with delayed payments or sometimes even worse no payment at all.

The designers emphasized that they had delivered the work as per the contract and right now asking for the money they deserve.

“Don’t be petty, please pay ASAP,” their post read, urging the platform to clear the matter, as well as they have also invited JioHotstar to contact them via DM to settle it privately.

While freelancers continue to drive digital marketing with fresh ideas and design work, they often lack sincerity because the gigs reflect light on the economic issues freelancers face.

As of now, JioHotstar has not publicly responded to the claim, but they should know that this mistreatment is not under the rock anymore.
