As we reported earlier, Amazon has rolled out ads while watching movies or TV shows on Prime Video, instantly angering their viewers based on social media reactions.
Current subscribers need to pay an additional $2.99 per month for ad-free streaming.
The new ads rollout is live, and viewers have started seeing ads in countries like the U.S.
However, now there is a lawsuit filed against OTT giant Prime Video for misleading its subscribers.
A customer has filed a case against Prime, stating that when he subscribed in the past and paid for his anual subscription, Amazon’s terms indicated nothing about Ads during streaming. Now, they have abruptly switched to an ad service and are asking for an additional $2.99, which is misleading, the complainant said.
Although it sounds logical, Amazon’s legal team surely would have reviewed these scenarios before the announcement, and they would be well-prepared to handle such cases.
It is understandable why it is frustrating many users, though.
