Others are certainly taking notes from the promotion strategies adopted by Barbie, and Disney has become one of the first ones to present an idea and excel at it. Barbie partnered with Burger King, and the pink sauce burger became a reality.
This time, it’s McDonald’s paying tribute to Loki and going retro. One outlet in Brooklyn takes us back to the 80s, particularly in 1982. The location at 6620 Bay Parkway in Brooklyn is not only decorated in a retro theme but also captures the essence of TVA.
The outlet is filled with vintage McDonald’s advertisements, and they’ve fully embraced the retro concept. Even the cash registers have a vintage touch, and employees will sport the iconic McDonald’s-themed red stripes.
This promotion will last for three days, from August 30th to September 1st. On the first day, the meal is called “As Featured In,” and the whole deal will cost around $2.54, surprisingly affordable from the house of McDonald’s.
But they aren’t just stopping at the menu and the aesthetics; they are also welcoming Loki cosplay during the promotion.
Now, it may sound like a dream for you and me, but it doesn’t seem like the most efficient strategy. They could have timed it better, considering that Loki is releasing on October 6th. They could have made a big event out of it in partnership with Disney and McDonald’s, perhaps even screening the first few episodes in the specific outlet.
Of course, it’s McDonald’s and Marvel, so it’s likely to succeed. However, with a more thought-out plan, they could have taken it to the next level. Thanks to Barbie, we can expect to see more fun collaborations like this in the near future.
