We Indians love courtroom dramas. Movies and series that delve into issues questioning our laws and their loopholes are among the best. Films like Damini, Jolly LLB, Jai Bhim, web series criminal justice and the recently released Bandaa serve as excellent examples of courtroom dramas. However, Netflix has released a trailer focusing on the stories of lawyers.
The trailer highlights the hustle of lawyers in getting cases, establishing their own chambers, and earning respect. Ravi Kishan plays the role of VD Tyagi, a wealthy lawyer with ambitions to become the Attorney General of India. Other cast members include Nidhi Bisht and Yashpal Sharma.
‘Mamlaa Legal Hai’ attempts to present these stories through a comedic lens, aiming to provide an entertaining watch. However, the disappointment arises from the fact that the jokes in the trailer don’t quite land and might be dismissed as cringe-worthy.
The overall standard falls short of Netflix’s usual quality. It seems the creators tried to incorporate every small aspect of the legal business, resulting in an incoherent trailer. ‘Mamlaa Legal Hai,’ directed by Rahul Pandey, is set to premiere on March 1, exclusively on Netflix India.
