Malayali Crime Series Arrives Through Big Star!

Posting on X, Prime Video India has announced that acclaimed Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt will serve as the executive producer for the upcoming Amazon Original Crime series, ‘Poacher.’ Set to stream from February 23, the series, created by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Richie Mehta, promises an intriguing narrative that delves into the world of ivory poaching in India.

Starring Nimisha Sajayan, Roshan Mathew, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya in lead roles, ‘Poacher’ aims to bring attention to the urgent issue of wildlife crime through its investigative crime storytelling. The series will be released in Malayalam, Hindi, and English.

Alia Bhatt, who made her debut as a producer with the 2022 Netflix India film ‘Darlings,’ expressed her excitement about being part of this significant project. She emphasized the personal impact the narrative had on her and the team at Eternal Sunshine Productions. Bhatt stated, “The storytelling genuinely moved me, especially knowing it’s based on true events, that shed light on brutal crimes occurring in our forests.”

The crime series unfolds against the backdrop of a deadly conspiracy concealed beneath the silence of the forest, sparking a relentless hunt for the elusive poacher. Bhatt believes ‘Poacher’ will serve as an eye-opener, delivering a powerful message urging compassion and consideration for all living beings. She said, “It’s a call to embrace coexistence, and I am genuinely thrilled to contribute to this narrative.”

QC principals Edward H Hamm Jr, Raymond Mansfield, and Sean McKittrick expressed their enthusiasm about Alia Bhatt joining the ‘Poacher’ team. They commended her for not only being a world-class actor but also a selfless philanthropist leveraging her celebrity status for positive causes. According to them, Bhatt’s involvement in the series will help raise awareness about the crucial issues it addresses.

The rest of the talented team behind ‘Poacher’ includes Director of Photography Johan Aidt, composer Andrew Lockington, and editor Beverly Mills. The series is a collaborative effort between QC Entertainment, Suitable Pictures, Poor Man’s Productions, and Eternal Sunshine Productions. Alan McAlex, known for his work on ‘A Suitable Boy,’ serves as the producer for Suitable Pictures.
