Kate Hudson will oversee the ensemble of actors and executive produce Netflix’s unnamed Mindy Kaling comedy series, which the creator and star of The Mindy Project will create.

The project, which was initially offered to Netflix in 2021 as a workplace comedy inspired by the Los Angeles Lakers front office with Elaine Ko (Modern Family) as writer/showrunner, now has a new imaginative team, with the actress collaborating on in addition to fellow Mindy Project alums Ike Barinholtz and David Stassen, and Stassen serving as showrunner.

In the comedy, Isla Gordon (Hudson), the only sister in an extended family of competing males, has spent her entire life unnoticed and undervalued. But when her brother is forced to leave due to a scandal, Isla is suddenly named Head of the Los Angeles Waves, one of the nation’s most legendary professional basketball organizations, as well as her family’s company.

Isla now has an opportunity to show to her skeptical brothers, the board, and the greater sports community that she is the ideal person for the position, particularly in the unreliable, male-dominated world of sports.

Oliver Hudson, best known for his part in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, will return to Netflix with a 10-the-episode show produced by Mindy Kaling’s Kaling Worldwide in collaboration with Warner Bros. Television. This is Hudson’s initial significant comedy programme role, also her first on television. Sibling Revelry, a podcast she and her sibling Oliver Hudson broadcast, is in the fourth season of its existence.
