Fans of Mirzapur will not see Vikrant Massey return in the upcoming film adaptation. Instead, Jitendra Kumar has officially been roped in to play Bablu.
The film is directed by Gurmmeet Singh under Excel Entertainment and Amazon MGM Studios. Reports suggest the shooting will be completed by 2026.
According to sources, Massey was approached to reprise his role as Bablu. However, he declined the offer, showing no interest in returning for the film.
Massey’s exit is linked to his dissatisfaction with how Bablu’s character ended in Season 1. His decision led Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani to begin searching for a suitable replacement.
Their search ended with Jitendra Kumar. Known as Jeetu Bhaiya in Kota Factory and Abhishek Tripathi in Panchayat, he has already won massive popularity among audiences.
The movie will also feature the original cast members, including Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyendu Sharma, Shweta Tripathi, and Abhishek Banerjee.
Additionally, Ravi Kishan and Mohit Malik have joined the ensemble, promising fresh energy to the much-awaited project.
