Mirzapur: The Movie is only a few months away from release, and fresh details about its early development have now surfaced online. Writer Puneet Krishna recently revealed that the original idea behind Mirzapur was planned as a film before becoming a web series.
Puneet shared that he once had a folder on his laptop titled “Guddu Aur Bablu Ki Story.” According to him, the concept later became the foundation for the upcoming movie adaptation based on the popular Mirzapur universe.
The writer also spoke about his inspiration from Gangs of Wasseypur. Puneet admitted that he initially wanted to create something in a similar genre and was deeply influenced by the style and storytelling of the cult crime drama.
Speaking about adapting television and streaming content into films, Puneet said many people in the industry are still trying to understand the format. He added that the film intends to focus strongly on relationship dynamics, especially for viewers who may not have watched the original series.
Despite speculation surrounding a larger franchise, Puneet Krishna clarified that he currently has no idea whether another film will happen in the future. However, he hinted that a fourth season of Mirzapur remains possible.
According to Puneet, the upcoming movie exists within the timeline of Season 1. This detail has already created curiosity among fans, especially because several dead characters are expected to return in the film.
Online users are now hoping the movie explores a fresh kind of conflict while delivering a proper big-screen experience. Many fans believe the film needs to feel larger and more cinematic compared to the streaming version.
Trade experts, however, remain cautious about the box office potential of Mirzapur: The Movie. Some industry observers recalled the mixed response received by film adaptations of television properties like Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai.
At the same time, fans are expressing strong excitement online and claim they do not want to miss the film in theatres. The final audience response, however, will only become clear after the movie’s release.
