Worst OTT Shows of 2026: Audiences Finally Fighting Back?

Undekhi 4, Inspector Avinash 2, Brown most dissappointing OTT Series 2026

Every year brings dozens of new web series with bigger budgets, bigger stars and bigger expectations. However, 2026 is proving that more content does not always mean better content.

The debate has struck a chord with OTT viewers, and many are openly discussing some of the year’s most disappointing releases. While such lists are always subjective, the conversations they spark are often more interesting than the rankings themselves.

Take Undekhi 4 for example. The franchise was once praised for its gripping storytelling and morally complex characters. But many viewers believe the latest season fails to recreate the tension and unpredictability that made the earlier seasons so popular.

Then comes Inspector Avinash 2. Despite Randeep Hooda delivering a committed performance, several reviewers felt the series suffered from overcrowded subplots and inconsistent pacing. Urvashi Rautela also failed to leave a strong impression in the second season.

Brown, which marked Karisma Kapoor’s return to the small screen, also failed to meet expectations. Many viewers felt the series lacked the storytelling depth and intensity needed to keep them invested.

The list does not end there. Recent releases such as Lukkhe and Maa Ka Sum have also drawn criticism from sections of the audience. Yet, none of these shows can be called complete failures.

They had familiar brands, established fan bases and respectable production values. Still, many viewers finished these series feeling disappointed and underwhelmed.

That sentiment says a lot about the current state of the OTT industry. A few years ago, edgy storytelling or a gritty crime setting was enough to attract attention. Today, audiences expect much more.

Viewers now consume global content regularly and compare Indian shows with international productions. They quickly identify repetitive writing, stretched narratives and formula-driven storytelling.

Perhaps the biggest takeaway from this discussion is not that some shows disappointed audiences. It is that viewers are raising their standards and demanding better quality.

The OTT boom created an era where platforms focused on releasing more and more content. But in 2026, audiences appear to be sending a clear message. Quantity alone is no longer enough, and strong concepts with meaningful storytelling matter more than ever.
