Just when everyone thought that “Jawan” was going to wrap up its reign after the monstrous collections for more than 5 weeks, National Cinema Day came on 13th October, lighting up the box office screen and raising collections to more than 5 crores, which had been in lakhs for the past 4 consecutive days.
With this, “Jawan,” on its 6th Friday, stands at 1125 crores worldwide. National Cinema Day has not only impacted “Jawan,” but it has also given a significant boost to movies like “Fukrey 3” and “Mission Raniganj.” If you are unaware, National Cinema Day is a special occasion when all theaters across the country have a ticket price of Rs. 99. This significantly benefited movies like “Brahmastra” last year, which experienced an unimaginable jump from 3 crores to 11 crores, taking the overall collection to 400 crores.
This initiative aims to bring audiences back to the theaters after the COVID-19 pandemic, and what could be more appealing than ticket prices as low as 99 rupees? Thanks to this, “Fukrey 3” also added another 5 crores to its total and now stands at 86.50 crores. It is expected to cross the 100 crore mark during its theatrical run. However, even Cinema Day couldn’t rescue Akshay Kumar’s “Mission Raniganj” from a lackluster performance. Although it added another 5 crores to its collection, the film’s total remains at 23.5 crores after 8 days, marking it as another flop in Akshay Kumar’s filmography.
