Netflix had a great opportunity to deliver a big series with ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’. However, the general perception is that Netflix wasted a lot of potential with the show and served mediocrity at its best. Avatar: The Last Airbender started streaming on Netflix from the 22nd of February worldwide. The early reviews for the series are in and they don’t look great for the creators.
Some critics said that the show was off to a bad start. They also complained about mischaracterization and lack of philosophical depth. The VFX of the show also failed to impress the audience who felt the work was unfinished.
One critic pointed out that the first episode felt like the makers were trying to rush to somewhere which was quite off putting. Any new viewer would have felt confused because of the pacing of the show.
Although, there are also some positive reviews for the series but it is safe to say that Netflix missed a big opportunity here. The series still has a decent rating of 7.7 on IMDb but the early reviews can bring that down.
