Netflix Slowly Trying To Empty Competition Through Buying

Netflix Empty CompetitionEven with the complaints, rage, and audience boycotting the streaming platform, from a global perspective, Netflix still holds an untouchable status. And for this number one spot, it’s not just their exclusive shows that helped them to get there it’s also their acquired content.

In the past, many streaming platforms made the same mistake, letting Netflix get a piece of their content, and that backfired in no time. Though Netflix is a hub for originals, it is the exclusive and acquired content that grabs the mass numbers of the platform.

Some reports recently observed the trend of small media companies and production companies selling their content to the ‘Big Boys’ to raise some cash. Even some big names are doing so. For example, Warner Bros. Discovery recently sold series including Insecure, Six Feed Under, and Band of Brothers to Netflix.

Maybe for a better cash flow, the platforms are forced to do so but in the long run, it will be of no use. It will just help Netflix to boast about their exclusive content and it will bring more numbers on paper.

The journey of Netflix started with the acquiring game and it might go back to that phase sooner than we expect.

Though 30% of the total viewership on the platform is from the Original content rest is brought by the exclusives and most of them are brought it with next to nothing.
