Another science fiction movie is now available on Netflix, and this time it’s a German one. If “Dark” comes to mind, you are not alone. Netflix’s German venture continues as they delve into the sci-fi genre with their latest release, a movie called “Paradise.” Although the title of the movie may seem extremely generic, it plays with some amusing aspects.
This German thriller has been directed by Boris Kunz and stars actors like Lorna Ishema, Iris Berben, Kostja Ullmann, Lisa Marie Koroll, and many others.
The movie starts with great promise in Berlin. The basic premise is simple: trade years of your life for money. A groundbreaking discovery has been made – you can now transfer years of your life to another person, completely changing the concept of aging.
The story revolves around two characters: Max (Kostja Ullmann), an employee of the big biotech pharmaceutical company AEON, and his wife Elena, who had to give up 40 years of her life due to being in a lot of debt. As Max tries to come to terms with this truth, he starts discovering dark secrets and the truth about the company. He also learns that his boss is not only a ruthless businesswoman but also someone who can harm his wife for her own gain.
The movie not only offers a good story but also features a top-notch background score, good cinematography, and great CGI effects. The cast also did a great job overall, resulting in an impressive IMDb rating of 7.6.
However, despite the very hooking beginning, the movie loses its essence quite fast. Besides this, it explores multiple intriguing aspects of an ultra-modern society, such as technology and the dynamics of power and choice. The movie shares a similar essence with “In Time” but explores a multitude of concepts.
