Netflix tops YouTube in watch hours. Even though the quality is depleting in most OTT platforms, the user base can’t stop growing for Netflix. And when it comes to watch hours, for some godly reasons, it takes the crown – pretty amusing! Even with a staggering margin, it beats Netflix. The report is out and it smells interesting.
Netflix leads the charts as active users spend 1 hour of their day on the platform. It is a staggering number indeed, and an OTT platform collecting this much data is mind-boggling. With social media users also on the rise, an OTT gaining such numbers shows extreme consistency.
TikTok holds the second place, with its most active users spending 54 minutes of their day on the platform. Hulu, another OTT giant, sits in third place, with active users spending 53 minutes of their day. Spotify is establishing itself as the main audio streaming platform, with 51 minutes of usage.
YouTube holds the fifth spot, which seems shocking with only 49 minutes of usage for the video streaming platform.
Regarding social media platforms, Twitter comes out on top as people spend more than half an hour of their day on the platform. Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat follow Twitter in terms of usage. The last two places have been occupied by Disney+ and Prime Video.
TikTok and YouTube’s stats raise concerns regarding short form vs long form video. Though YouTube has a far bigger fanbase, it gives prominent proof regarding the attention span of users.
