Netflix’s new movie, under Dharma Productions “Aap Jaisa Koi” has started a crucial debate online.

Audiences are divided into two parts, one part is defending the feminist perspective and another part is holding on to the duties a wife should follow.

A part of the audience on X expressed strong disappointment claiming that the film romanticizes “selfishness” under the disguise of women empowerment.

The user criticises the woman who left her husband after 28 years of marriage, questioning if the man is supposed to sign up for dating apps now?

The post also questions another woman’s choice for being open about her past relationship, saying that it is progress under the disguise of hypocrisy.

However, another section of the audience is counter attacking all these allegations.

They argue that the film doesn’t glorify rebellion, it portrays emotional neglect and the need for healing.

The user said, “She didn’t leave for freedom. She left after 28 years of feeling unheard”.

The daughter keeping her ex on her content and the parents not rebelling against that is not hypocrisy, it shows how complex human nature is.

“Aap Jaisa Koi” has done what good art often does, to the audience.

Whether it is seen as irresponsible storytelling to some or a bold take to others it is up to the audience.

But nonetheless “Aap Jaisa Koi” showed Love, Loyalty and Responsibility and what it means to be really free to its truest form.
