Modern day film making and entertainment business is a team sport. A single mind can rarely run the whole show claiming it to be entirely theirs. However, working in teams under big studios robs you off the creative liberty that one exercises while working alone. The original makers of Avatar’s live action series have expressed their disappointment while working for Netflix on the project.
Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino had been working on a live action project based on Avatar for the last two years. ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ is a project by Netflix that will be released next year. Bryan and Michael surprised everyone by exiting the show over creative differences.
According to Michael, they were not able to control the creative direction of the series and hence they quit. They have said that their vision for the show was ignored and whatever the end result of it is going to be, it’ll not be what Bryan and Michael had thought initially.
Michael also said that the decision to quit was one of the hardest decisions of his professional life. Both of them are now leading the Avatar Studios and working on animated projects.
