The rise of OTT platforms marks a significant milestone in the entertainment industry. It has provided job opportunities, continuous entertainment, and an economic boost. Now, it’s time for the International Film Festival of India to acknowledge India’s potential in web series.
IIFI is a big thing. Ever since it started taking place, OTT content and the overall Indian film industry have received slight exposure. Last year, the event was highly successful, particularly for “Fauda” and its Indian remake.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has introduced a new category to honor the Best Web Series. For this category, the submission dates have been extended.
Online submissions will be accepted until September 4th, and for hard copies, the deadline is September 12th, 2023.
A panel of entertainment industry experts will select the Best Web Series at the 54th International Film Festival of India. The winner will receive a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh and certificates. To be eligible, the web series must be an original creation in any Indian language, produced for OTT platforms, and not a re-run.
The basic eligibility criteria require that the series must have been released between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2022.
The competition will be fierce with shows like “Rocket Boys,” “Delhi Crimes,” “Panchayat,” “Gullak,” and “Khakee,” which are expected to put up a strong fight.
