OTTs Amazon, Netflix struggle with technical issues in India. Demand for OTT platforms in India is growing rapidly, but even major international services are facing challenges with quality and service. Earlier, homegrown platforms reported issues, but now global giants are also struggling.
Viewers are questioning the reasons behind such disruptions. India’s massive market and the fast-growing demand for digital entertainment add to the pressure. Yet, service quality continues to drop, leaving audiences frustrated.
Many OTT services are also accused of focusing more on ads and campaigns, even on paid subscriptions. This becomes worse when technical issues affect the basic viewing experience, making it difficult for users to enjoy uninterrupted content.
Recently, some users noticed that Amazon Prime Video skipped episodes while streaming series. When complaints surfaced online, Amazon Prime Video admitted it was an occasional lapse and expressed regret for the inconvenience caused.
If such issues continue along with intrusive ads, OTT platforms may lose credibility. Instead of being trusted sources of entertainment, they could become markets that exploit subscribers without improving their service quality.
