Prime Video, the popular streaming platform, has officially set the premiere date for its unscripted docu-series, “Rainbow Rishta.” The series, directed by Jaydeep Sarkar, in collaboration with story directors Hridaye A Nagpal and Shubhra Chatterji, is set to premiere on November 7.
“Rainbow Rishta” delves into six inspiring and heartwarming queer love stories, providing viewers with a unique, candid, and unflinchingly honest window into the lives of members from the LGBTQIA+ community. The series aims to celebrate love through the lens of real experiences, showcasing the challenges and triumphs faced by individuals in their pursuit of love and happiness.
The docu-series features stories from different parts of India, spotlighting the real-life experiences of Trinetra Haldar, Aishwarya Ayushmaan, Daniella Mendonca, Aneez Saikia, Sanam Choudhary, Soham Sengupta, Suresh Ramdas, and Sadam Hanjabam. These fierce and fabulous stories highlight the protagonists’ journeys as they overcome obstacles and work relentlessly to fulfill their seemingly impossible dreams.
“Rainbow Rishta” marks Prime Video’s second collaboration with VICE Studios Production, following the success of “Cinema Marte Dum Tak,” a modern cult classic inspired by the pulp cinema of the 90s. The series is set to captivate audiences not only in India but also across 240 countries and territories worldwide.
This unscripted docu-series is a significant step toward promoting inclusivity and understanding within society. By sharing these powerful narratives, “Rainbow Rishta” aims to foster empathy and acceptance, breaking down barriers and celebrating the diverse spectrum of love in the LGBTQIA+ community.
