Amazon Prime Videos, in collaboration with Excel Entertainment, Apple Tree, and Renzu Films, is set to release a new musical drama titled Songs of Paradise. The biopic showcases the extraordinary life and legacy of Kashmiri singer Raj Begum.
The film Songs of Paradise will premiere on the OTT platform on Thursday, 29 August. Raj Begum, born in 1927, was the first female voice from Kashmir at a time when women had limited rights to pursue art and music.
Even after her passing in 2016, Raj Begum continues to inspire generations. Netizens praised the makers for highlighting the journey of such an influential personality from the Kashmir valley to audiences across India and beyond.
Actor Saba Azad portrays the young Raj Begum, while Soni Razdan plays the older version of the legendary singer. The first look poster revealed both actors in key roles, alongside Raj Begum’s iconic melody.
The project has been in the making for years, with Kashmir born director Renzu Shah reviving the region’s rich but forgotten musical heritage. If executed well, Songs of Paradise promises to be a treat for both film and music lovers.
