Fans have had a complaint against Bollywood that it hasn’t done a love story right in a long time. The nostalgia of the early 2010s releases is hard to find but if you’re looking for an unconventional love story, then Amazon Prime has just the right movie for you. ‘Satyaprem Ki Katha’ is a moving film that takes you on an emotional journey.
This romantic drama directed by Sameer Vidwans begins with a love at first sight when Satyaprem, aka, Sattu, played by Kartik Aaryan, saw Katha, played by Kiara Advani, dancing at a family function.
The movie is not what you would have expected from the trailer. In fact rather than a comical path, the plot takes an emotional route to deal with a few serious issues. The screenplay is not as crisp as one would have wanted but the direction somehow compensates for it.
The writer has tried packing in a few punchlines by taking a jibe at traditional Gujarati families and their snacks. The movie also features Rajpal Yadav as a comic relief.
The movie is driven by the need to spread a message and it delivers at that front. The writer Karan Shrikant Sharma tried to attack patriarchy by his portrayal of an unconventional family where women run the house.
Satyaprem Ki Katha is nothing short of an entertaining 144 minutes. You can catch the movie on Amazon Prime where it was released on the 24th of August.
