As Netflix drops the final three episodes for the masses to see, the show takes a massive hit. Netflix releases the top 10 list for its shows and movies, and The Witcher holds the top spot, but at what cost?
Now, the show experiences a significant dip from the previous week when the first part of this season was dropped. The world was enjoying the Henry Cavill magic, but as the show is at its dusk, the stats moan along with the audience.
This season already has 30% fewer views compared to the last season, and it is only destined to go downhill. The first part of the season peaked at 15 million viewers, which is a great number indeed, but the second part’s performance is concerning. It gained only around half the views in a week, and the downfall is indeed staggering.
The reasons for this decline aren’t very clear as fans appreciate Cavill’s performance. It might be his potential departure from the show causing the downfall, or it could be Netflix’s ‘brilliant’ strategy to break a season into parts. While this approach was successful for Money Heist, The Witcher is showing a different response.
What about the future seasons? It doesn’t look that bright. If people are treating the show like this when Cavill is the lead, imagine how they will feel if he is replaced by the less popular Hemsworth brother. The next couple of seasons will be deciding ones when it comes to the continuation of the series, but doubts remain.
