Emraan Hashmi is a Bollywood star who has delivered numerous hits in the past but has never received the stardom he deserves. He has consistently been typecast as an actor with a Casanova personality. Even in “Tiger 3,” where he had the chance to shine, unfortunately, the movie underperformed. Now, Emraan Hashmi is attempting to make his mark in the OTT world with his upcoming series, “Showtime,” whose trailer has just been released.
The series explores the background drama involved in making a movie and the dilemma of creating meaningful cinema versus being satisfied with a mindless blockbuster. It also addresses the theme of nepotism and the darker aspects of Bollywood in a sensitive manner. This approach may work as a critical take on today’s rapidly changing industry, which often relies on minimal efforts to satisfy audiences without delivering thought-provoking content.
The series features Mahima Makwana, Mouni Roy, Nasiruddin Shah, Vijay Raaz, Shriya Saran, and Rajeev Khandelwal in lead roles. Directed by Mihir Desai and Archit Kumar, it is set to premiere on 8th March exclusively on Disney Plus Hotstar.
