The story follows the life of Sita mostly referred as Siya, a 17-year-old girl from Devganj village, who after being brutally assaulted and held captive for a week, tries to fight for justice. In this battle she gets the support a lawyer and her family friend Mahendra played by Vineet Kumar Singh.
Siya’s powerful perpetrators, including the brother of a local politician, are initially arrested but later released on bail. A CBI investigation exposes the local politician as another rapist. However, Siya’s father, Shekhar, is falsely implicated, beaten, and killed in police custody, sending a chilling message to the family.
The case is not very different from what we’ve seen in Unnao and Harhras which shook the country. ‘Siya’ exposes police and politicians, showcasing their abuse of power to suppress truth and oppress the marginalized.
Vineet Kumar Singh delivers a stellar performance but Pooja Pandey is the heart and soul of the film. Her portrayal evokes a range of emotions, showcasing her outstanding talent. Rest of the cast also lends a great support.
Director Manish Mundra who has also produced gems like Newton and Massan, delivers a brutally honest poetry. Siya offers a raw and powerful depiction of real-life incidents, showcasing the impact of genuine storytelling. You should watch this movie on Zee 5.
