Actress Sobhita Dhulipala is coming to audiences with a dark and intense crime thriller titled Cheekatilo. The film will skip a theatrical release and premiere directly on Amazon Prime Video from January 23. It will stream in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi, allowing the film to reach viewers across India.
In Cheekatilo, Sobhita plays the central lead as Sandhya, a podcaster who investigates a series of disturbing crimes in Hyderabad. As she digs deeper into the case, she uncovers shocking truths hidden beneath the city’s surface. The poster that reads, “Before darkness takes over, Sandhya arrives… be prepared,” sets a chilling tone for the film.
The film is directed by Sharan Koppisetty and produced by D. Suresh Babu. It is presented as a psychological crime thriller focused on investigation, suspense, and slow burning tension rather than action. The makers believe it will strongly appeal to thriller lovers once the Sankranti festive season ends.
This project is also important as it marks Sobhita’s first film announcement and release after her marriage to Naga Chaitanya in 2024. She personally revealed the first look and release date on social media, surprising fans.
With its dark theme, investigative narrative, and strong female led performance, Cheekatilo is expected to do well on OTT. However, Akkineni fans would have loved it even more if it had released in theatres first.
