Popular OTT streaming platform Sony LIV, like others, has announced its upcoming slate of projects. This time, considering the huge engagement from southern states, the platform is eyeing the Deccan and, especially, the south.
The first series on the platform is a Telugu drama series, “Lords of the Deccan,” based on Anirudh Kanisetti’s best-selling book. It is a historical show centered around the history of the Chalukyas and Cholas.
The next upcoming movie is “Brinda,” based on a female cop played by Trisha Krishnan.
Another social drama on the slate is “Kanyasulkam.”
“Bench” is a corporate drama directed by Manasa Sharma and Mahesh Uppala, telling the story about millennials.
The last one is titled “Indraprastham,” directed by Deva Katta, which is a political drama set to release soon.
It is evident that the platform is focusing more on South Indian languages. While it’s great to acknowledge the newly gained audience, this might hamper their usual North Indian audience. Therefore, to cater to its usual audience, the platform is also bringing unscripted shows like “MasterChef” and Season 3 of “Shark Tank.”
