SonyLIV’s newly released political documentation drama “The Hunt: The Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Case” directed by Nagesh Kukunoor.
Has sparked discussions online, but not for the usual kind the makers would have hoped.
While the series delves into one of India’s most sensitive political tragedies very respectfully and gently.
Viewers are now frustrated over a glaring audio issue that’s hard to ignore.
A user on X voiced frustration, saying they are unable to understand why the series is marketed as Hindi when nearly 90% of the dialogues are in Tamil.
Even after selecting the Hindi audio option, viewers are getting long dialogues of Tamil without subtitles or proper dubbing.
This situation has left many viewers disappointed, as the expectation of a smooth Hindi viewing experience remains unchecked, in a platform like SonyLIV where the subtitle option and audio option both are available, these problems shouldn’t come across.
This isn’t just a small glitch, it’s a basic accessibility issue. In a country with many languages, proper dubbing is needed or at least clear and readable subtitles are essential, for this matter, when the subject matter is so important these kinds of inconveniences may cause major damages.
Especially for content aiming to reach a national audience. The overlooking of this has led many viewers to question whether SonyLIV simply overlooked the user satisfaction or rushed the release.
While the series “The Hunt” is undoubtedly gripping, and a very well made series, such technical oversights can alienate viewers and diminish the impact of storytelling.
