Records Shattered! Netflix Flooded with ST5 Fans

Stranger Things 5 Netflix viewership record

Stranger Things Season 5 has taken over global streaming conversations since its release on November 27. The series has now become Netflix’s most popular English-language premiere to date.

The show collected over 59.6 million views in just five days, marking the biggest debut week ever for any English-language title on the platform. Netflix also confirmed its No. 1 global ranking, placing it behind only Squid Game Seasons 2 and 3 in overall premiere performance.

For those unaware, the makers dropped the first four episodes of the eight-part final season on November 27. Compared to Stranger Things 4, which recorded an equivalent of 22 million views under Netflix’s older hours-watched metric, Season 5 has delivered a massive 171 percent jump.

The sudden spike in viewership even caused brief service slowdowns, despite Netflix increasing bandwidth ahead of the premiere. Meanwhile, excitement is high for the remaining four episodes, which will release on December 25.

Whether Stranger Things can now be placed among classics like Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad remains a question. But its record-breaking start has already made history.
