The trailer for the Road House adaptation has been released, giving fans their first glimpse at UFC star Conor McGregor in the film. Road House is redoing the 1989 film with Jake Gyllenhaal as the star, although McGregor will also play a role.
If you’ve seen the original with Patrick Swayze, you’ll understand the idea; if not, it’s about a strong guy guarding a pub from some unscrupulous individuals.
The remake’s trailer appears to follow many of the same plot beats, except Jake Gyllenhaal’s central character in Road House is a former UFC fighter who travels to Florida rather than Swayze’s mystery Missouri guy.
McGregor appears to be playing the villain this time around, as seen by the teaser, which shows him tearing stuff up and headbutting Gyllenhaal. Gyllenhaal, an MMA fighter, competes against a slew of evil guys, including developer Grant and roughneck Conor McGregor. Gyllenhaal teams up with Williams and Lukas Gauge to protect a bar.
As Grant tears down the bar and Elwood, Gyllenhaal battles his intention to establish a resort for rich bastards. Castro, a former MMA middleweight, is still carrying the scars from a terrible battle with Elwood. The clip includes McGregor’s opponent and Ellie, a local lifesaver.
